In the 17th century the paint windmill "De Kat" was built at the Zaanse Schans. The mill is once again grinding raw materials to make pigments for paints in the traditional time-honored way and is widely believed to be the only mill of its kind.
The inside of an old corn mill called the Eendracht in Alphen aan den Rijn, Holland. Each Saturday it is in full operation. Here you can see one of the floors with some of the large parts spinning around. This old mill still delivers flour for a large supermarket in this town. The mill is build in 1752 (!) in Zaandam and transported and rebuild (!) in 1898 in Alphen aan den Rijn. Very impressive to see all these ancient wooden constructions still spinning around, completely powered by wind.
